Data communication
|
Think of warehouse trucks and forklift trucks, next to their basic function of material handling equipment, as mobile gateways: tools for gathering and communicating information on material flows. An integrated scale measures the weight of transported goods, a barcode reader identifies the shipment, and all this data is exchanged with a warehouse management system (WMS) via truck terminals and wireless networks. Thus information is made available for on-line checking of incoming goods or order picking, for quality control, tracking & tracing, benchmarking and management information. Printing a ticket or sending weight data to a computerRAVAS mobile scales are equipped with a RS 232 communication port for communicating the measured weight; for printing on a built-in printer; or for communicating with a PC or WMS via continuous weight transfer or question and answer communication. RAVAS also supplies a software interface called S.I.R. Mobile that enables easy communication between RAVAS scales and any data terminal that runs on Windows Mobile or Windows CE. |
